The Story

THE SHADOWLANDS: HUMAN OF TOMORROW

Two shadows go on strike and then start to revolt as they try to take over the human forms of two souls and bodies they've been assigned to as they are not eligible to participate in the Shadow Contest.  The Shadow Contest is held annually by the God of the Shadow world and it gives one lucky shadow the chance to become human and live a human life but to qualify you have to have served your human faithfully, be attached to a human that is due to die and then win the Shadow Contest.  Due to their circumstances the two shadows are ineligible and they begin to rebel as their entrance is disallowed.  The two dissatisfied Shadows decide to seek out and track down a shadow shaman with whom they form an alliance and chaos rapidly starts to ensue as they lead a rebellion which spreads out across the Shadowlands and even threatens to seep out into the human world.  Written by Jill Thrussell.

HUMAN FAVORS BUREAU: THE LIFE BANK 

Fern and Serenity work for the Human Favors Bureau and the specialist supernatural banking system that governs the delicate equilibrium of human earthly affairs.  Special gifts they can bestow upon human beings as they provide their unique services to humanity include: bags of wealth, celebrity status and life changing opportunities.  They also have the ability to grant: special favors, discounts of kindness and exceptional rewards to those they deem as deserving human beings.  Quite often they often walk the earth in human form as they assume control of human bodies for short periods of time to deliver particular services but at times they appear in their supernatural state to particular human beings, especially children.

The Universal Rule of the Life Bank is: When something is given, something must be also be taken away.

When human client balances start to fall into dispute however, due to intervention and intentional sabotage by the mischief makers, who oppose them and some human beings fail to sacrifice willingly the things they are supposed to surrender, chaos ensues.  Written by Jill Thrussell.

SHADOWLANDS: PERSONAL FATE TRAINERS

Destiny and Achieve are assigned to the Personal Fate Training Academy a division of the Human Favors Bureau.  Their duties are to assist, support and nurture those assigned to them so that they can find their purpose and fulfill their destiny through various supportive provisions.  Their special areas of expertise include: gifts of exceptional brilliance, provision of instrumental opportunities, portions of confidence and helpings of determination.

THE SHADOWLANDS: STORK (FAF- Family Assignment Facility)

The storks family assignment facility is a special branch of the Human Favors Bureau that selects parents for unborn children and then places each one in the correct homes.  Wren and Robin join the division under the supervision of Zerelda who trains them to be proficient but unfortunately proficiency isn't quite an attainable goal just yet and things quickly start to go wrong as the bumbling trainees struggle with their tasks.  Chaos quickly ensues as the two find themselves struggling to correct the mistakes they have made and mismatched families they have created, before Zerelda discovers the mess they have made.

THE SHADOWLANDS: THE DREAM CENTER

Three primary shadow workers work as dream providers for The Dream Center, a division of the Human Favors Bureau inside the Shadowlands that is tasked with creating and providing humans with dreams.  One night, very unexpectedly however, their dream simulator is stolen and they are unable to distribute their nightly deposits and as a result, human dreaming is thrown into total chaos. Due to the foul nature of the theft, it is suspected that the Mischief Makers are responsible. 

The three dream providers are then tasked with having to hunt the Mischief Makers down to retrieve it as they know that without it, the Mischief Makers will haunt humanity with even more nightmares than usual, which they usually manage to overcome by the provision of dreams.  They first have to enter inside the Mischief Makers domain, the Valley of Treachery, in order to track down the missing dream simulator, find the dream simulator and then return it but they quickly discover that not only do the Mischief Makers have the dream simulator but that they are also extremely reluctant to return it and a battle quickly ensues with the troublesome saboteurs.  

Special gifts the dream providers can bestow upon human beings include: biggest wish dreams, fairytale experiences and moral lessons.

THE SHADOWLANDS: WILL WRITERS

Settle and Atone work for the Rest In Peace division of the Human Favors Bureau and they assist human beings in putting their relationships and financial affairs in order before their life is due to expire. Their areas of expertise include: reconciliation of alienated loved ones, treasured reunions and special portions of forgiveness.

The Universal Rule of the Rest In Peace Division is:  The gift of eternal peace, harmony and satisfaction should be bestowed upon those who deserve it.  Written by Jill Thrussell

Overview:

The Shadowlands population is made up of Shadows, ninety percent of whom are assigned to human forms but about 10 percent work for the Human Favors Bureau in either; the Dream Center, Fate Training Academy, the Human Favor Bank, the Stork Family Assignment Facility or the Rest In Peace Halls.  The Mischief Makers are Shadows that have deserted their human forms and that have been outlawed and banned from the Shadowlands, they live in the Valley of Treachery at the edge of the Shadowlands. They invade the Shadowlands whenever they can for various reasons with malicious attacks and are aggressive, wild and rebellious.  Every year a contest is held inside the Shadowlands and a human being is selected to moderate the 'Human of Tomorrow' contest alongside with the God of the Shadowlands and one lucky, eligible Shadow is given the highly prized 'Human of Tomorrow' annual slot and can actually live a human life.

The three objectives of Shadows are:

  • To Protect Human Lives
  • To Assist Human Beings 
  • To Provide Invisible Companionship to Humanity

 

This project is suitable for six to twelve year olds and a key message of this series is that it will serve as a tribute to all the people in one's life that are always there for us.
