Scenarios Inc : Holo Haven

The Story

A new holographic vacation program is unleashed upon the world which enables participants to experience a holographic fantasy world of their own creation through immersive holographic technology created by a scientific genius called Tom Matthews.   Three unsuspecting vacationers take the plunge and book the fantasy holiday of a lifetime at the Holo Haven resort which promises to provide them with the ultimate pleasure and enjoyment with absolutely no negative consequences whatsoever.

Much to their horror however, once they start to explore and indulge in their passions and fantasies tantalized by it's seductive delivery, they suddenly begin to realize that they are trapped by a relentless computer program and a scientist with an extremely murderous agenda.  The three must find a way to escape from not only the holographic fantasies they are trapped inside but also a sadistic computer program that is intent on holding them captive on the behalf of a scientist that believes their lives are an appropriate sacrifice to fulfil his horrifying, deadly, scientific ambitions, before their physical bodies are due to be mutilated in reality.

Quotes

Unfortunately however, the commitment and attraction Simon felt towards the type of women he enjoyed romantically engaging, was not a two way street and they usually abandoned and dumped him as soon as a wealthier, more affluent, attractive suitor showed up in their life.  The women Simon dated definitely, absolutely always had stunning good looks, classy apparel and were immaculately groomed but that was accompanied internally by gutter attitudes, an arrogant disregard towards Simon and extremely self-serving instincts. ~ Jill Thrussell

The situation made no sense at all to John or to Simon as Simon had actually started the research organisation he actually headed and hence it was technically his domain and his employee was therefore an invited, paid guest within his arena and to John it seemed almost like inviting someone round to your house for dinner and the person being rude about everything they possibly could be. ~ Jill Thrussell

Sarah had in some respects created an environment that was a simulation of what she imagined heaven or paradise might actually look like and it definitely looked and felt, absolutely heavenly. ~ Jill Thrussell

At one end of the deep, emerald, green pool of water, it tapered out softly into a small river which gently wound its way around the clump of trees which hide the waterfall from view, almost as if it wanted to force the trees to allow it to be visible as it meandered gently through them and finally found a way and means to escape their confinement.  ~ Jill Thrussell

Each of the small rocks at the base of the waterfall, glistened and sparkled as every drop of water greeted them, adorned them and then searched frantically for their final resting place. ~ Jill Thrussell

Amanda was completely hopeless when it came to the issue of money and her financial means were always just one small step away from a zero balance bank account, financial destitution and bankruptcy but she had a pretty face and a lively personality and somehow that seemed to just about keep her afloat in the balance of life. ~ Jill Thrussell

The two men smiled as they watched Amanda, she was definitely still young enough to throw caution in the trash and get as excited as she wanted to about anything in life, without actually having to make any excuses about it or ever having to justify her conduct. ~ Jill Thrussell

"Yep Amanda can be very helpful when it comes to filling out your wardrobe."  John agreed.  "She has great taste in clothes, just not in boyfriends."  He teased. ~ Jill Thrussell

Once Amanda had decided upon a course of action, she would proceed at full throttle into maximum arrangements mode like a bulldozer and there would be absolutely no going back for anyone involved and especially not for her. ~ Jill Thrussell

"I'll dabble in a portion of romance, chew on a mouthful of passion and have a splash of adventure and perhaps I'll even jump off cliffs and fly through the air.  I'll do lots of wild and wonderful stuff."  Amanda insisted enthusiastically. ~ Jill Thrussell

"I need a definite commitment from you both please as shopping trips are certainly not casual lovers."  Amanda teased as she urged the two men for a commitment to her plans. ~ Jill Thrussell

They had actually been together for just over a year and he had hoped this would be his final romantic exploration of the singles dating scene but unfortunately that just wasn't to be and he had been rapidly tossed back out into the jungle of animalistic courtship once more. ~ Jill Thrussell

Part of John had realized and accepted as she'd flown out of his life upon the plane of unrequited love that perhaps you never really knew another really person at all, no matter how long you actually spent with them or what they actually said to you and that perhaps the only thing anyone could ever really be certain about in life was actually themselves. ~ Jill Thrussell

Romantic relationships definitely required a lot of effort and energy to sustain and were huge emotional and physical investment and John just felt he wasn't ready to give that to anyone else again, not yet, not so soon after his last efforts and his most prized possession, his heart had been so rapidly trashed, discarded and dismissed. ~ Jill Thrussell

Amanda nodded.  "Come on John, how can you possibly have a bacon bap without any brown sauce that would be a complete and utter crime."  She replied. ~ Jill Thrussell

From John's perspective that was probably quite a good thing as some of the guys Amanda had dated over the years had been real assholes, though he'd never admitted that to Amanda's face and being lumbered with an asshole for a long period of time, in the name of love was certainly not a fate he'd wish upon anyone, never mind his dearly beloved kid cousin. ~ Jill Thrussell

If there was a dating garbage bin, Amanda had definitely found it and chosen to source most of her dates from it and John had at times, become quite frustrated by the lack of quality men Amanda had not only chosen to date but also subsequently presented to him. ~ Jill Thrussell

She returned to her seat a few minutes later, her face adorned the usual naughty grin she usually wore as she returned not just to her seat but also to herself and the loud, rambunctious, wild Amanda that John and Simon were both used to, who would tease them incessantly with boundless amounts of energy and vigorous tenacity. ~ Jill Thrussell

Unfortunately, for the surrounding passengers, Amanda quickly made the most of their physical peculiarities as she rapidly incorporated them into her game and their unusual features quickly became accessories to her impromptu method of entertainment as each one became a potential 'I Spy' target. ~ Jill Thrussell

Neither of the two men had actually married yet and neither man had a stable, committed romantic relationship that was likely to result in marriage and therefore Amanda was the main woman in both their lives and although she was definitely the child amongst the group, she definitely kept them on the edge of their seats upon the flight of life. ~ Jill Thrussell

Her hunger it seemed had actually won the battle against her tongue which meant she was no longer providing a running commentary or attempting to tease everyone in sight. ~ Jill Thrussell

A crimson, red skyline embraced the horizon as pink, puffy clouds skewed out from all around the fading sun as they relaxed upon the veranda and discussed their day. ~ Jill Thrussell

"Not at all, women usually appreciate men that make an effort for them and that sincerely flatter them, lubricates any potential interest and waters the flower beds of flirtation and romance."  She advised. ~ Jill Thrussell

"Well you just water the seeds in the flower beds of flirtation a bit and see if they sprout and if they sprout, then you water them some more."  Amanda insisted as she smiled.  "I'll tell you what, I'll keep an ear open and if I feel like you're entering into the 'stay away from him he's scary' zone I'll let you know." ~ Jill Thrussell

“It's totally unfair if we don’t understand the price we'll ultimately pay for these so called improvements to our quality of life and it's totally unfair if we don't have a chance to fully examine and understand the deeper implications of those sacrifices, the responsibilities of which will be not only ours but also our children's to carry in the future. Our mistakes of today will be our children’s burden tomorrow." Sarah insisted as the passion stirred inside her. ~ Jill Thrussell

Their conversation so far had mainly focused upon her work and his work and hadn't slipped into or touched upon personal matters yet at all and as John sat on the brink of romantic deliberations, he longed to dabble in the steamy waters of personal relationships and actually dive right in. ~ Jill Thrussell

From the very first second that John had set his eyes upon Sarah, the question he posed had bubbled away gently at the very back of his mind and now he had finally managed to find a way to extract it as he allowed each word to drip from his tongue like drops of honey. ~ Jill Thrussell

Their union, bond and partnership was a clearly a very different one from those that John was used to, it was one based on violence and aggression not the positive, affectionate bonds of family, friendship or even romance. ~ Jill Thrussell

Amanda definitely couldn't blame John for being distracted from the groups' conversation as Sarah was totally stunning and it seemed she'd captured John's attention from the very first moment he'd actually set eyes upon her but for the purposes of Amanda's game she'd definitely needed more participants to make it more interesting and hence therefore she'd definitely had to interrupt them. ~ Jill Thrussell

Sarah had definitely seemed nice enough and Amanda had finally decided that John could definitely do a lot worse in terms of potential life partners and that in fact, he usually did. ~ Jill Thrussell

Sobriety really wasn't a prerequisite when it came to actually participating in artificial fantasies and hence Amanda had been perfectly happy to consume a couple of glasses of wine, before she'd actually lain down on top of the bed. ~ Jill Thrussell

She'd decided on her way upstairs from the veranda that if she was going to turn up to a fantasy scenario inside Holo Haven, she definitely had to look hot, sexy, delicious and devourable as sloppy, dowdy nightwear was just an unacceptable adornment and format to turn up to any potentially exciting adventure in.  ~ Jill Thrussell

At times, Amanda was totally convinced that John was actually a nerd and Simon definitely verged upon being one too but since John was her cousin and Simon, her cousin's best friend, she'd had to give them both the 'Nerd Exemption' pass, in order to actually spend time with them and be seen in public places with them both.  ~ Jill Thrussell

A long, golden, silky dress flowed down from her neck which rippled against her skin and lapped against each of her limbs almost like waves of silk every time she moved and Amanda smiled as she admired it.  Beauty and luxury dripped from every inch of the environment that surrounded her and Amanda was lost for words, which was very unusual for Amanda as she usually had generous helpings of opinions to offer on absolutely anything and everything. ~ Jill Thrussell

Romantic mistakes as a woman became older, were less easy to justify and the cost in terms of the time they wasted, was less easy to expend as the sands of a woman's biological clock continued to slip away, regardless of whether a mistake was actually made or not. ~ Jill Thrussell

Each wall inside the armoury was lined with weapons that stood upright in neat rows against each one almost as if they were soldiers in their own right and standing to attention, on guard and fully alert. ~ Jill Thrussell

One of Ahmed's hands suddenly transformed into a very sharp, metal dagger which then detached from his wrist and flew rapidly around the room as it headed towards some nearby men and sliced five of their throats in less than a minute and quickly demobilized them. ~ Jill Thrussell

The flap upon Calvin's arm quickly reopened again and hundreds of tiny poisonous darts suddenly flew out of it and rapidly sped through the air towards another one of the targets inside the room and Ahmed quickly launched another flying dagger attack. ~ Jill Thrussell

Quite often nowadays as Sarah was very aware, people were reluctant to welcome other new people into their midst and forge new alliances and make new acquaintances as the current social landscape was so deeply complex and peoples' lives were so intricately organized, it was often extremely hard just to fit them in. ~ Jill Thrussell

Questions had scurried through the passageways of her mind as she'd deliberated over the prospect of whether or not she'd really want to enter into a holographic artificial world and whether or not she was actually really ready to embrace such a high octane fantasy environment that was so far removed from what she actually believed in, in her very real life. ~ Jill Thrussell

The Holo Haven vacation had been for her, an attempt to provide some form of relief from the heavy weight of reality that Sarah usually carried around upon her shoulders day to day and coped with, without any complaints. ~ Jill Thrussell

Once you were a grown up, you usually extended your family but you did not usually return to it and you had to actually establish your own life, your own family, your own relationships and the manner in which you actually wished to live. ~ Jill Thrussell

Romantic relationships had almost become as interchangeable to some people as clothing and the high divorce rates clearly illustrated a change in peoples' attitudes towards life, each other and even towards their own children. ~ Jill Thrussell

John had definitely been an additional attraction at the Holo Haven resort but thankfully he didn't appear to be a rollercoaster of seductive charm with no substance that would sweep Sarah off her feet and then throw her heart towards the ground from a very high height and his approach and personality had appeared to be somewhat more stable, decent and steady.

Sarah had in some respects created an environment that was a simulation of what she imagined heaven or paradise might actually look like and it definitely looked and felt, absolutely heavenly. ~ Jill Thrussell

A pool of water lay just at the bottom of the waterfall and as the emerald, green water cascaded down, it shimmered and shone as each drop joined its comrades and dived into the pool of water below. ~ Jill Thrussell

Looks of sheer horror rapidly spread out across the other vacationers' faces as if a contagious wave of fear had suddenly washed over them as they listened quietly and accepted Amanda's findings. ~ Jill Thrussell

There was it appeared, no actual way into the back end of the system from the control panel menu screen and the scenario based commands that it actually offered and that in some senses was quite frustrating as the control panel it appeared was definitely not willing to cooperate with John's plans in any capacity at all. ~ Jill Thrussell

Each of the four, inside the holographic room were totally and utterly determined to somehow hack into the back-end of the computer system Zeus which was now technically holding them hostage and keeping them captive but the ransom on this particular occasion was actually their very life itself.  ~ Jill Thrussell

Hatred, anger and malice lined the angry bull's eyes and spite seemed to drip from the creature's lips as drops of black saliva fell from its mouth as it charged towards them. ~ Jill Thrussell

A long, black, wooden cane was firmly gripped inside one of his hands very tightly as if it was a precious jewel that he had no desire to drop or lose and situated directly behind him there was a huge, square blackboard attached to the wall. ~ Jill Thrussell

No one uttered a word as silence surrounded the four almost like an invisible blanket which covered them from head to toe as uncertainty held their tongues and words captive almost in the same manner that Zeus actually held their holographic forms captive. ~ Jill Thrussell

Strangely, for some unknown reason as soon as the men attacked the door, the holographic hallway suddenly started to fill up with mutilated bodies which seemed to bleed out from the walls that surrounded them. ~ Jill Thrussell

The truth wasn't pretty but it was reality and both men fully understood the silent implications of the decision that John had actually made as John stepped inside the black frame and the blackness quickly engulfed him as it swallowed him up whole, in just a few steps. ~ Jill Thrussell

Holo Haven was a death resort and horror house and they were indeed its intended victims. ~ Jill Thrussell

Sarah suddenly drew much closer to one of the female bodies and stared at the creature's face and closed eyes as she imagined for a moment what it might actually be like to be wired up to one of the machines inside the room and what it might be like to be reliant upon the death of others for survival and life.  "They're victims too just like we are."  She finally insisted as she broke the silence.  "They didn't choose this life or even their creation." ~ Jill Thrussell

Despite the female creature's life being shrouded in horror, somehow there was a glimmer of dignity attached to her death, somehow she had been a real hero and somehow she had saved other human lives and somehow that, in Sarah's sight, definitely made her, completely human. ~ Jill Thrussell

Each of the small rocks at the base of the waterfall, glistened and sparkled as every drop of water greeted them, adorned them and then searched frantically for their final resting place.

“You should enjoy my company sweetheart."  He jeered.  "It’s hard to get a date with me and now you have me all to yourself.  You should really make the most of it."  The Serpent boomed as he paced up and down in front of the smaller cave and displayed himself proudly in front of Annabelle.~ Jill Thrussell

Hatred almost spat out of his eyes like flames and as he stared at the Serpent's face, he then suddenly raised his hands up in the air and a golden, fiery, force field ball unexpectedly, rapidly emanated from them.  ~ Jill Thrussell

"Perhaps I should help you find a date when we get back home."  Amanda suggested.  "Like when I picked out your clothes for our vacation.  I could hook you up with someone nice, or even just perhaps someone slightly nicer." ~ Jill Thrussell

"Should I drive Simon?"  Amanda asked.  "You're too sensible.  We might need to rush and drive very irresponsibly and I'm great at being irresponsible." ~ Jill Thrussell

Both of the life support machines situated directly next to the two male creatures immediately stopped beeping as Tom quickly turned and walked away from them, unable to look at what he'd just done and unable to watch their dying bodies surrender to death as they sat upon the metal frames that they'd occupied for so long. ~ Jill Thrussell

Fortunately, the library entrance was situated quite nearby and the five actually managed to reach it before Liam and Nathan actually reached them as they rushed towards it frantically. ~ Jill Thrussell

Quite often on the weekends in the two months after their ordeal, John, Amanda, Simon, Maverick and Sarah would gather to actually spend their weekends together as they embraced and extended the friendship that had initially been forged from tragedy and horror as they tried desperately to forget the disturbing nightmare that had actually brought them all together. ~ Jill Thrussell

The Friday evening seemed extremely normal as they relaxed and simply enjoyed each other's companionship but in the back of their minds they all knew, normality was a destination that was situated very far away from the circumstances that had actually brought them all together. ~ Jill Thrussell

Even though the five had returned to their own lives which were in essence still very much the same, they had all returned very different people and it was as if they had all been given a fresh pair of eyes with which to now view and see the world from. ~ Jill Thrussell

Daily events now seemed much more vibrant and colourful as the walls of their days were decorated by pleasant exchanges, positive interactions and comforting companionships. ~ Jill Thrussell

Most weekends, the five would actually meet up and spend the whole together and as their memories from the horror filled Holo Haven resort sauntered gently further away into the distance, they formed new memories together that were a lot more pleasurable and enjoyable with which to adorn the walls of their minds with. ~ Jill Thrussell

Holo Haven was a horror that quite frankly no one wanted to remember and as time went by and the five filled their lives with new, more beautiful, pleasurable memories, it became slightly easier to forget that it had ever actually happened.  ~ Jill Thrussell

Friendships had been created and developed that deep down, the five hoped would last a lifetime and that encouraged them to pick up their broken hearts which had been broken and fractured from the horror filled vacation experience they'd endured as they'd started to live again. ~ Jill Thrussell

Perhaps Amanda had finally grown up, John mused as he quietly watched her engage in a deep, serious discussion with Maverick, perhaps maturity was something that definitely had to happen to everyone and even Amanda as much as she'd wanted to, couldn't escape its grasp. ~ Jill Thrussell

An unrealized passion lingered between them both which teased every pore of John's skin and seductively tantalized him as he was extremely hungry for Sarah now and only she could actually satisfy his appetite. ~ Jill Thrussell

Now, they could both certainly embrace their future together without any fear alongside the trusted companions of joy, peace and love which could once more find a place within both their lives and now they could adorn each minute of their togetherness with generous portions of beauty and happiness and now they could both actually live again.

Despite the fact that Sarah was surrounded day to day by a reality that actually fought against experimentation, she finally decided to experiment a little with her own reality and indulge in the high octane fantasy Holo Haven offered.  ~ Jill Thrussell

On the stove of love, Simon would be kept firmly on the back burner where he would simmer away frustrated as the pot of yearnings inside of him, bubbled away with discontent and never actually reached the boiling point of passion his heart truly desired. ~ Jill Thrussell

Suddenly the lights faded and from out of the wires and circuits that surrounded them, a black, greyish man emerged from one of the walls.~ Jill Thrussell
