Mindplant

The Story

Technology has evolved and become a willing suitor to science as a new vacation program is unleashed which enables participants to experience alternative lifestyles and bodies for a short space of time. The vacation package on offer allows holiday makers to live vicariously through the eyes and physical presence of another as their bodies are stored and hidden away from the world inside a Body Preservation Dormitory.

The simulations of the Mindplant world, promise to entertain you and provide you with your heart's desires as you engage in your fantasy vacation and the various adventures it contains without consequences or ramifications. Two strangers lives however quickly become intertwined as they start to explore their vacations, various attractions and are then even pitted against each other.

Startling revelations are uncovered as they start to realise that their minds are trapped inside not only their vacations but also inside the simulated bodies and world they once enjoyed, which rapidly become a noose tied tightly around their necks. The vacationers then have to attempt to find a way to escape; their Mindplant vacations, Barbelo the founder and pending death.

MINDPLANT BOOK QUOTES

“Rats, Spiral had worked out were much easier to consume when their skin was fried to a crisp as the crunchiness seemed to somehow distract from what they actually were and make them slightly easier to swallow.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Don't do it Maverick.  You'd die and achieve nothing. Your death would be a wasted death, your sacrifice robbed of any substance, a martyr for a cause whose death had absolutely no impact at all.” ~ Jill Thrussell

“In those days her name had actually been Lucille Vanquis and she'd simply shed her name alongside the remnants inside her memory of the dead carcasses she'd left behind.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“He accepted his position solemnly as he glanced at Concept's face and ignored the romantic invasion and his loss in the battle to win Connie's heart.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“She inhaled deeply as he stood extremely close to her and his breath brushed against her face, it was fast, heavy, deliciously warm and filled with masculine energy as it gently caressed her cheek.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“The clock on the wall nearby changed every now and again to indicate each second and minute as they passed, before they disappeared never to return again.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Despite his lack of legal connections to Brain Break however, Maverick's heart had been deeply intertwined and entangled in Barbelo's existence and his emotions had committed him to a deeper contract between them both, one deeper than any legal document could possibly have formed.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“The prospect of Barbelo's murderous tendencies and capabilities terrified them and the fact that Barbelo had actually killed people before and suffered absolutely no ramifications or consequences at all, completely turned their stomachs over as the vomit of fear weighed down heavily inside their bodies like a solid brick.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Now however, Gavin had been thrown into the murky depths of unethical, scientific practices and there was very little he could actually do to stop it or limit his involvement, in as much as he wanted to escape his wallow in the muddy, distasteful, sinking swamp of dirt was not over and he was firmly rooted inside it and deeply implicated in every single speck.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

"Hope abandoned her and chance disappeared as they left her completely isolated and alone with only fear and despair as her companions in the prelude to death.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“She'd crucified any emotions that were tied to him and created a mountain of resistance towards him inside her heart, much like the mountain he had actually been buried alive inside.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“The feelings he had for Connie and the intimate moments they had shared, he had to remember as she definitely would not and their romance would then simply die alongside the artificial depths of the false persona's it had started inside.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Welcome to my headquarters." Maverick teased playfully as he stood back from the door and allowed them to enter inside the basement room. "The champagne dust fountain is situated directly on your left and the grimy, cobweb spa is just on your right, just in case you feel the need to relax and poison your pores. There are no mud-cakes available today, I'm completely out of those as I've run out of stock.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Her voice echoed throughout the room as her words bounced off the stone walls that surrounded her, each one as cold and indifferent as they were.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Barbelo sighed, she had inadvertently ignited those doubts within Gavin and triggered a snowball of thoughts that could run down the hill of contemplations until they became a huge avalanche of fear.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Unlike his professional relationship with Barbelo, who's only real loyalty was to her company and the objectives of her research, Chivonne was his army and his ally in the battle of life.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“You're talking about a program almost as if it's an actual person." Connie remarked as she laughed slightly nervously, somewhat disturbed by the fact that the voice she'd once thought of as attractive was actually really a program that was now holding them captive.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“She'd voiced the unspoken question that had plagued his thoughts and tormented his mind earlier that morning, a question that had weighed his body down almost as if it was poison; a question with an answer that seemed to elude his mind much like an unfaithful husband avoids a questioning, nagging, suspicious wife.   ~ Jill Thrussell

“Chivonne, his innocent, sweet wife had absolutely no idea regarding the difficult dilemma's he now faced and was implicated in and as the tentacles of complexity and foul play wrapped themselves tightly around his neck, they attempted to strangle him.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“A wave of assertiveness seemed to have infiltrated every pore of their being and it was as if they had been invigorated and energized by brush strokes of enthusiasm and hope and as if bright colors of happiness had actually been painted onto their hearts by an artist of optimism.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“He shook his head as if he were shaking away any worries he had, like bits of unwanted dust that had fallen onto and accumulated upon his clothing which he decided were totally unnecessary and had absolutely no home there.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“When each experience had originally occurred they had been clean and pure, now however that was no longer true, now each memory was tainted, now each memory was dirty, clouded, jaded and impure as they'd been struck by the lightning of despair and frustration that her trapped status denoted, her present suffering now completely redefined and altered her past enjoyment as history was rewritten in front of her very eyes.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Although Quorn's tone sounded enthusiastic, deep inside he was situated very far away from the location of certainty as his doubts betrayed him and his voice wavered slightly.” ~ Jill Thrussell

“The heart was such a delicate, fragile component of a human being's structure and could be so easily damaged, ripped to shreds and completely destroyed and it served absolutely no purpose at all, to tease or play with someone's emotions in any capacity.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

"The drink known as an 'Erotic Shot' seemed to provoke some kind of hallucination that flooded into a person's mind and simulated a sexual experience which invoked the senses and provided sensations inside their body as if they were actually engaged in an actual, physical sexual act." ~ Jill Thrussell

"His heart became strapped down tightly by a rope of guilt that seemed to twist itself around his lungs and rib-cage and tie him securely to the floor as it gripped and paralyzed his body."  ~ Jill Thrussell

“The lifestyle Montgomery lived had become almost normal to Quorn as he soaked himself in the power he enjoyed as a result, he was absolutely tantalized, fascinated and captivated by it’s lure which seemed to drug him every day as he enjoyed his addiction to it wholeheartedly .”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“The illusions are fabrications of fragmented data, designed to appease the soul and entice the flesh, even in the real world we are always surrounded by illusions.  Mindplant is not that different when you actually think about it. People's misrepresentations, false advertising and false media projections, Visual just created a fake world that's not so very different from our own." Spiral explained.  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Barbelo's desires had gripped every part of her mind, body and soul as she continued to embrace them and allowed them to rule her whilst they ran riot inside her like an undisciplined child.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Was Visual actually someone he should speak to, listen to or trust, the question pricked his mind for a moment as a flurry of indecisiveness scampered through his thoughts.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Each thought teased him as they lingered inside him provocatively, stirred and shaken but not yet fully erupted or realized as they yearned and waited to spill out into reality.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

Glimmers of curiosity flickered across his eyes and danced across his black pupils like flames of fire as they teased his mind and questions leapt into his mouth.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Rejection for some reason seemed to inflict a deep pain that cut into the heart and engraved itself onto the mind and although time healed most wounds, somehow the bitterness of rejection was a much tougher pill to swallow.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“Concept had taken Connie from Quorn's capable, protective arms and she'd been captured whilst in his.”  ~ Jill Thrussell

“She'd simply thrown the safety guidelines aside into a trash bag of undesirable considerations that had lain in a heap somewhere in the back passageways of her mind like a pile of garbage that waited patiently to be taken to the dump.”   ~ Jill Thrussell

“He was hungry for excitement. Hungry for his first mission to start. Hungry to hunt down those he was to kill.” ~ Jill Thrussell

“Meet Visual. “ Concept added.  “He's the embodiment of the program.  He carries out the daily maintenance of the environment. He makes you believe the illusions within it are real. He is our opponent. If Visual or his Exterminators catch you, you die.” ~ Jill Thrussell

“There were no physical souvenirs to return home with which she could look at to remind her of her trip, just a few memories inside the shelves of her mind that could never be actually shown, given to or admired by anyone else,”  ~ Jill Thrussell

"The position she had been placed in by Barbelo was unfathomable and absolutely horrifying, there were things she wanted to say to people in her life that for the first time she was unsure she would ever get a chance to; lingering words, thoughts, explanations, unresolved complex misunderstandings and various other intricate emotional explorations which she now realized may never actually ever occur at all."  ~ Jill Thrussell

"Death waited to invade, devour and ravage Connie's mind and Skylar's body as it prepared to drag her to an unknown, foreign destination, one she knew she would never actually return from."   ~ Jill Thrussell
