Synopsis: In a fictionalized near future, a new entertainment system is created and then introduced to the market via Ray Raskal that offers a simulated fantasy environment to users. Due to its immersive and potentially dangerous nature, the system which is called Recreation is swiftly outlawed because it allows participants to live alternative lives in a simulated space through the altercation of not only their minds through an injected brain chip implant but also their neurological processes. However, many pleasure seekers continue to flock to and be enticed by the lure of Recreation which allows their minds to occupy any simulated forms they wish to as they become futuristic high-tech warriors, heroes and villains and it even enables them to have sexual and romantic relationships with other people, both real and simulated that they would never usually encounter in real life and so, Recreation continues to thrive.
When two strangers are drawn into this seductive world, cross each other's paths and become actively engaged in Recreation's charms, they suddenly discover that they must unite as they start to experience some very real-life negative side effects. The lines between reality and fantasy quickly become obscure for the two, due to their deep dive into this black-market technology as they try to figure out the reality behind the simulated reality and work out what the real dangers are. Along the way, hidden amongst their sea of encounters, the two meet some simulacrums, who often pose as human participants that may or may not be friends or foes as they make allies, friends, enemies and love on each of their respective fantasy voyages and recreational visits.
Due to the potential dangers of Recreation a scientific, tech crime undercover detective is assigned to track down the elusive Ray Raskal and to monitor his black-market scientific tech operations. However, the detective faces a number of challenges because not only does he have to find his way through the simulacrums and identify the real human victims who mind jump from simulated form to simulated form and attempt to save as many of them as he can but he also has to try to track down one of the two who may hold some vital information about Ray Raskal himself and so he has to avoid being tricked into divulgence of his mission by simulacrums who may try to present themselves as that real human individual. The lure of Recreation however, swiftly muddies the detective's goals due to its seductive grip and his entire mission is put in jeopardy as he grapples with his own internal desires and the reality that he might not overcome the challenges involved in time to save at least some of Recreation's participants and to find the key person that may lead to the destruction of Ray Raskal's black-market scientific tech empire.
