Summary: When a woman faces a terminal illness, she seeks out a high-tech solution and transfers her mind into a robotic clone to act as a grief buffer to the reduce the painful impact upon her family, namely her husband and the two children that will remain.   However, after his wife's departure from life, her husband Marcus starts to dig deeper into the high-tech realities of the couple's decision as his family start to face some dangerous inaccuracies and as the high-tech solution that he welcomed into his family home and family life, rapidly becomes the very component that might destabilize, obliterate, eradicate and totally destroy it.

Due to some technological anomalies which throw the whole family into disarray, panic, fear and confusion, Marcus must then decide whether or not to reveal the secret to the rest of his family, or whether to abort the robotic clone but as he appreciates the positive contributions that his wife and his love for her brought to his life, he struggles to make a decision because a termination would effectively wipe out the last remaining traces of the love of his life forever.  During the course of his journey of self-discovery and his voyage through delayed grief along with the ethical moral challenges he faces as he tries to live life with a technological substitute, he also starts to question whether grief is really a positive natural process that reminds humanity of their ability to love and if grief prolonged is really just avoidance of the natural human aspects that make us who we are and perhaps even the people that we were meant to be.   Due to some of the dangers present however, Marcus soon has a more dangerous ethical dilemma on his hands which pushes him to make the final decision but as he starts to face the pressing realities of the couple's choice, the issue then becomes whether he can shield the remainder of his family for long enough to disable that technology before it destroys and terminates his family that remain and him.  Written by Jill Thrussell

The Story

Due to a terminal illness, a woman and her husband secretly prepare for her final departure from life in which she will undergo a mind transfer process which will allow her to upload her mind on her death bed into a robotic clone to provide a shelter of solace, a grief buffer and a shield of comfort for her family after her departure.  However, after her departure from life her attempts to provide her family with a crutch of support, some practical assistance and a protective emotional buffer from any deep heart-breaking chasms of grief and sadness that they may subsequently face, rapidly start to present other issues to and within the family members that remain.

A veil of secrecy starts to unwind due to some negative eventualities and some secrets are swiftly swept aside by mysterious events that start to occur as the family that remain struggle to assimilate with the robotic clone due to some anomalies and glitches.  The impact of the rogue technology which has been given permission to live inside their family home places her husband in an awkward position because he then has to decide whether to notify the rest of his family about the robotic clone procedure and see if they can find a way to cope, or whether he should abort the robotic clone and lose the last remaining traces of the love of his life forever.  During the course of his journey of self-discovery and his voyage through delayed grief along with the ethical moral challenges he faces as he tries to live life with a technological substitute, he also starts to question whether grief is really a positive natural process that reminds humanity of their ability to love and if grief prolonged is really just avoidance of the natural human aspects that make us who we are and perhaps even who we were meant to be.

Suddenly however, Marcus is pushed to breaking point and a final decision as the family faces another tragic loss and an accident claims the life of his son in very suspicious circumstances which leads him to start a secret personal investigation into the robotic presence that he has invited into his home.  Unanswerable questions linger however, in Marcus' mind and a dangerous ethical dilemma as he digs deeper into the truths of the high-tech solution that he not only accepted but also invited into his family home and family life as to whether that solution is actually going to totally destabilize, obliterate, eradicate and destroy his family completely, or whether he can shield the remainder of his family for long enough to disable that technology before it destroys and terminates his family that remain and him.  Written by Jill Thrussell
