Hope and Sacrifice: A Heartbeat of Hope for Tomorrow

The arms of Hope were sad and heavy as she began to cry,
But nothing could change the growing despair inside her eyes,
Not an inch of hope existed that could save the human child,
And so she had started to give up on her own essence deep down inside.

Suddenly, a spark of light entered into the hospital waiting room,
As Sacrifice rapidly started to arrive and not a moment too soon,
With a familiar friendly face, open arms and a hopeful smile,
He walked over to Hope and restored the chance of another while.

You have done all you can now Hope, Sacrifice said,
But I have come to assist you, so do not be afraid,
This child cannot be saved with only hope alone,
And a sacrifice must be given before he can return home.

Inside that hopeless waiting room, a miracle was suddenly sparked,
As Sacrifice began his work and found a replacement heart,
A donor was quickly found to save the male child's human life,
And so Hope could finally smile again as Sacrifice solved her strife.

Another chance would now be given for a young man to live,
Because Hope and Sacrifice had given him all that they could give,
So in a moment filled with heartbreak and despair that day, Hope had swiftly learned,
That Sacrifice really was her true companion and truly her best friend.

Hope turned to Sacrifice and smiled as they began to depart,
And thanked him for his provision, the sacrifice of a human heart,
Without you I couldn't have saved him, Hope rapidly confessed,
Without the sacrifice that you found that young man would now be dead.

Hope, take my hand and walk with me, Sacrifice implored,
You will never be alone and your efforts won't be ignored,
Alone you cannot achieve as much and I am here for you,
Because together we can move mountains and change what is true.

The Hunt for Happiness & the Tree of Wisdom Written by Jill Thrussell (pending finalization)

A sad boy went on a wander one day in the nearby woods to see if he could find some happiness,
Then sat down near a very large tree that he found which he felt would provide a good place to rest,
The tree of wisdom didn't speak for a moment to see if the boy would stick around his trunky base for long,
But as some tears fell down the young man's face the wise tree began to encourage him to try to be strong.

Climb in-between my roots and I'll tell you about life, the tree kindly said, as a branch leant down to point the way,
You will find lots of soft moss there and some fallen leaves that came to visit me and then chose to stay,
Although my woody, hard stick edges aren't a palace you are more than welcome to stick around,
And my woody home of nature does provide some care if you don't mind sitting on the ground.

Happiness comes to visit your heart daily but often fleetingly because you may not see the efforts joy has made,
Because sometimes sadness and anger can become obstacles that will block and stand in your heart's way,
So if you see happiness floating by like a stick of joy travelling down life's river or your daily life stream,
Then you must catch and hold onto that moment before it floats away and disappears just like a dream.

Happiness cannot find a comfortable place to live and grow in your heart if there is too much sadness standing in the way,
And so you must clean out all the wilting leafy remnants of any sad yesterdays before you can enjoy the happiness of a new today,
Because if your mind dwells and lives in the disappointments from yesterday then that sad weight can overload your heart,
And so you must give happiness a fresh place to live and reside as each new day dawns and then tries to start.

Upon the young man's face there was a thoughtful expression as he thought about what the wise tree had to say,
Because he felt that the wise tree was so clever and very wise in such a natural, wooden, branchy, sticky way,
How did you grow so tall you must be very wise, the young man finally said, as he sat down upon the soft green springy moss,
Because I've never seen a tree that's grown so high and so you must have been alive for a lot of years and seen a lot of frost.

Wisdom, the tree said, is like a flower's seed that the wind whisks away and then whirls around and around,
And sometimes it can fall on open minds and fertile soils and at other times upon the hard, stony ground,
But when wisdom falls onto hard, stony surfaces you will notice that it will never grow into anything magnificent at all,
And you’ll find that the seeds of wisdom cannot predict where they can land safely or where each one will start to fall.

Nature has been good to me at times but also tough and so I have learnt to grow from the strain, the tree began to explain,
Because I have learnt to stand firmly through many years of stormy weather, some hard hailstones and many torrents of rain,
The storms made my bark harder and tougher and the rains gave the soils and my roots the nutrients that they need to grow,
And so even though there can be tough moments each one can help you to grow inside as life fertilizes your human soul.

Quite often my branches provide a shelter to those in search of a peaceful resting place from life and nature's storms,
And so you see I understand how life's human storms can be hard at times to battle against for very long,
So whenever you feel stuck or lost in sadness or you cannot reach for a branch of happiness as you travel through life each day,
Just come and visit me because I'll let you sit on my branches and lift you up into the sky so that you can find a happier life pathway.

Finding a Pulse of Wise Compassion: Sacrifice & Wisdom (Eden & Orion)

How do I find rest in this mind of mine,
Eden asked as she glanced at the time,
Seconds tick away as I deliberate,
And I fear my conclusion in case I make a mistake,
So I'm no closer to a decision,
Though time has gone by,
Because a conflict has arisen,
With no internal position to accept or try.

Sacrifice gave a nod to indicate that he understood,
Because life didn't always offer guidance that was sound or good,
If you give sacrifices with a heart that is sincere and pure,
Then life will honor your heart of that you can be sure,
And whether or not,
Your conclusions are wrong,
Your sacrifices won't disintegrate or rot,
And your heart will remain strong.

Unlike your position Sacrifice I must object,
Wisdom interrupted as his stance she began to reject,
If you give sacrifices to a heart that does not feel gratitude or remorse,
You will be trampled on and mistreated like a downtrodden workhorse,
So you can give your sacrifices only,
To those that show appreciation and that spend time with regret,
And you must also give to your own heart willingly,
To retain your own dignity, strength and self-respect.

Although I understand your wise position Wisdom and impartiality,
Sacrifice replied, I really must fervently disagree,
Because I would sacrifice my immortality for a child in need,
Then I would sacrifice my mortal life for a cause in which I believe,
Without empathy and sacrifices,
A heart can't feel, beat or give,
Because the pulse of compassion in human choices,
Enables the human spirit to forgive and live.

Do not be mistaken your point contains virtues that are benevolent,
Wisdom replied, but Sacrifice you must consider the message being sent,
Sacrifices without wisdom can create more pain, hurt and regret,
And can lead to diminishing returns to a heart and less self-respect,
So without any wise input into a sacrificial decision,
A human heart cannot remain strong or beat peacefully,
And though the love may be fathoms deep it can end with a tragic situation,
Because eventually the giving human heart will be broken and become a casualty.

This decision is very hard because a human life is not long and so I cry,
Eden replied as some sad tears fell from her eyes,
If they switch off the machine Orion will never ever return to my side,
But if they leave it on he may worsen just to keep him and my hopes alive,
And although I have ample portions of devotion,
In my heart I don't want Orion to suffer any more pain,
Because my love can never offer us any restitution,
And I will have to live with my own guilt and self-blame.

Eden, you really must do what your mind and heart can achieve,
Sacrifice said because your conscience must live with what you believe,
Although wisdom and sacrifices can help you to find some inner peace in your mind,
Your heart and mind must find an agreement and offer you a reprieve that is kind,
Wisdom and sacrifices can exist in harmony,
So if you let both into your heart and mind,
You will make a decision that liberates your heart naturally,
Because within your heart there lives a love that is both wise and kind.

Yes Eden, don't be too hard on yourself because I can see your heart is sincere,
Wisdom agreed as she began to draw near,
Whatever you decide to do will be the wisest and most loving choice,
Because your mind cannot judge your heart when you make a wise sacrifice,
And although wisdom can at times shield or protect your heart,
In this instance I agree with Sacrifice in every part,
We can do more for you together than we could ever do apart,
So just trust the pulse of wise compassion that already beats from your wise loving heart.
