The Boy That Lives in the Well: My Wishful Bones

My bones rattle and shake,
But go nowhere,
Because I live in the bottom of a well,
But no one knows or tells.

Wet, damp, lonesome nights,
Small splashes of coins,
With no rescue in sight.

My bones creak and groan,
But don't go anywhere,
And the only thing that greets me,
Is the well's cold empty stare.

Wet, damp, lonesome nights,
Small splashes of coins,
With no days of sunlight.

My days were once full of wishes,
When I'd toss a coin into this well,
But that was before the day,
That I slipped and fell.

So now there's just wet, damp lonesome nights,
And small splashes of coins,
That sometimes give me a fright.

But my wishes still live inside,
My empty bones,
Even though I'll never ever,
Return to my home.

Wet, damp, lonesome nights,
My wishes and me,
Remain hidden from sight.

My wishes still live with me,
In this empty well,
And when a coin hits my bones,
I remember them well.

Wet, damp, lonesome nights,
But sometimes when I live in my wishes,
The day looks more bright.

So throw a wishful coin in,
For my empty wishful bones,
Because each wish that you make,
Could bring my wishful bones closer to home.
