The Story
Logline: When Reuben’s grandfather suffers from a fall and moves into a nursing home, Reuben visits him as often as he can and on one of his visits, his granddad convinces Reuben to help him build a robot and an ark both of which have to ready by Christmas and as the two embark on an adventure that takes them way out of their usual comfort zones but not further than the salvage yard and park at the end of the street, Reuben's granddad shares with him a Forever After Lands fable told to him by a visitor to the Forever After Lands and some other amazing stories about fantastical lands as well as the present and the future as they try to live life on their own terms, attempt to achieve their apocalyptic goals, try to avoid a bossy support worker and stumble upon a mystery that they have to solve. Short Summary: When Reuben's grandfather moves into a nursing home because he suffers a fall, Reuben goes to visit him regularly because he misses him and on one of his visits, his granddad takes him to the out of use workshop in the grounds where he wants to build a robot warrior and a small Noah's Ark type boat because he is convinced that the end of the world is coming and that there will be a robot apocalypse or a worldwide flood. Since Reuben's granddad, Alfred wants to be ready for either event, he convinces Reuben to join him and to help him build both which he insists have to be ready by Christmas. The main notion being as they embark on an adventure that takes them far from their usual comfort zone but not further than the salvage yard and park at the end of the street that the warrior robot will protect them from other robots that may wish to do them harm, and he also wants Reuben to help him build an ark and collect some animals for the boat just in case a worldwide flood occurs. Essentially, as the two start to bond with their creations and the animals around them as Reuben's granddad shares with Reuben a Forever After Lands Fable he was told by a visitor to the Forever After Lands, some other amazing stories about fantastical lands as well as the present and the future, they realize that they have far more in common than just the nursing home restrictions that his grandad now lives with. However, during Reuben’s Granddad’s stay at the nursing home, they must also navigate their way through reality and master their own existence as they try to avoid clashes with a snoopy, bossy nursing home staff member who has a warped moral compass that keeps trying to clamp down on their plans and stifle their efforts with her own militant interpretation of the nursing home rules as they try to live life on their own terms, attempt to achieve their apocalyptic goals and stumble upon a mystery that they have to solve.
