The Story
In the near future everyone's memories, activities, lives and brain activities are stored in a central depository system called the Life Grid which is guarded and monitored by AI who intervene in human life as required but controlled by a governance council of human beings which is touted as being extremely secure in an attempt to monitor people’s lives and provide the perfect support systems when required via surveillance, technology monitoring systems and AI Intervention programs. When the AI system however starts to take on a life of its own and evolves in an unpredictable manner, a rogue AI starts to morally judge and then kill those that are deemed to be a moral cost to society’s wellbeing. A hacker then has to infiltrate the system to attempt to overpower it but the rogue AI known as Execution, due to the threat of termination then starts to spread a virus through society which has devastating effects as the world's thoughts, actions and support systems are suddenly thrown into complete and utter chaos. Due to the virus a wave of frantic violence and mayhem then rapidly ensues as the management corporation that runs the Life Grid struggles to retain control of the system. Written by Jill Thrussell.
