Splinters or Splinters: The Friendship Map (working titles)
The Story: when three British teenage friends, from different ethnic backgrounds (one an aspiring vet, one an aspiring singer and one an aspiring scientific researcher) who have been friends since childhood, are driven apart by the war between Israel and Palestine and the fallout, they drift apart but when one of them suddenly faces a life threatening illness and another is the victim of a drug abusing gang, the three have to find ways through their various life aspirations to overcome the tug of war inside themselves and to embark on a journey of remembrance and revisit their childhood happiness spots to relive each moment of joy to try and regain what has been lost. During this journey as they adopt some new practices from their various life aspirations to assist them and visit each memory landmark which they mark on their friendship map with a memory, a friendship goal they've reached and a song, they try to restore their friendship which has been torn apart by politics, war, family pressures and societal hatred and attempt to remove the splinters of toxic societal pollution that have infiltrated and contaminated their lives and friendship with their own memories from their friendship which still contain some embers of warmth. Splinters/Splinters in My Heart
Tried to figure things out,
But our equation of me and you,
Isn't easy to solve or to renew,
So my heart's in a state of disrepair,
Wondering what I can save,
And wondering what to do about you.
But I can still hear the beeping,
Because our life support machine's weeping,
For another love,
That just ain't worth keeping,
So now we're flatlining,
And spiralling down through and through.
You keep leaving splinters behind,
Every time you're passing by,
Rubbing my tears until they're dry,
But there's no painkillers to try.
Tried to make our love distinct,
But now our love is extinct,
So now there's just fossils of us,
That we can't revive that won't survive,
So I'm wondering what I can still save,
And wondering what to do without you.
You keep leaving splinters behind,
Every time you're passing by,
Rubbing my tears until they're dry,
But there's no painkillers to try,
You keep leaving splinters behind,
Every time we connect and intersect,
Everything's wrong and I'm wondering why,
But there's no painkillers to try,
Just splinters of pain,
And splinters of rain,
So my heart's full of splinters,
And things between us aren't the same.
Bridge
And we can't make,
Our present into the past,
We can't make our love,
That's broken last,
So I'm gonna,
Take a sling of hope,
Wrap around my heart,
To help me cope,
And get a band-aid of repair,
To remove the splinters of you.
But I can still hear the beeping,
Because our life support machine's weeping,
For another love,
That just ain't worth keeping,
So now we're flatlining,
And spiralling down through and through.
