Shadowlands

The Story

When two shadows Faithful and Challenge are not allowed to enter the annual 'Human of Tomorrow' Shadow Contest due to a technical error which resulted in their immediate reallocation to two new human children, they refuse to participate with their normal shadow duties and go on strike. The annual Shadow Contest (Human of Tomorrow) which is held each year by the ruler of the Shadow world awards provides one lucky shadow with the chance to become human and to live a human life but to qualify and to enter the contest, you have to have served your human faithfully for an allocated time period, or be unallocated and between humans and understand what it means to be a good human being.

Due to their personal shadow circumstances however, this particular year, the two shadows are ineligible to compete and so they start to rebel as their entrance to the contest is disallowed.  Since they have been recently reallocated to two human children, they seek out a shadow spirit to assist them who helps them to connect directly to the human world and to the two human children that they are supposed to monitor and the two children are then pulled into the Shadowlands as the two shadows petition them to assist them in their plight.  Chaos rapidly spreads out across the Shadowlands however, as the two human children join the two shadows in their quest which swiftly leads to a rebellion all across the Shadowlands that even threatens to seep out into the very human world.  Written by Zaylee Knowles

Overview:

The Shadowlands is an invisible world that can only be found by those that shadows invite and accessed by humans at night when they sleep although shadows can slip into the human world at any time.  Since shadows have dual presence abilities that means they can exist and function in both worlds at the same time unlike human beings who can only function in one.  Most shadows in the Shadowlands population are matched with human forms but about ten percent work for the Human Favors Bureau.  Some of the main functions of the Human Favors Bureau include: the Dream Generator Centre, the Fate Training Academy, the Human Favor Life Bank of Happiness, the Stork Family Assignment Facility, the Shadows Training Academy, Rest in Peace Halls, the Memory Creator Generator, the Fixables Recycling Repair Center and the Earthly Problems (Natural and Unnatural) Resolution Center.

In a valley on the edge of the Shadowlands, the Mischief Makers reside which are Shadows that have deserted their human forms who have been outlawed and banned from the Shadowlands as they occupy the Valley of Treachery.  On occasions and whenever they can, the troublemakers invade the Shadowlands for various reasons with malicious attacks because they are aggressive, wild and rebellious as they try to throw a spanner in the works and disrupt not only the Shadowlands but also the human world.

Every year when the 'Human of Tomorrow' contest is held inside the Shadowlands a human child is selected to moderate the contest alongside the ruler of the Shadowlands and one lucky, eligible Shadow is then given the highly coveted and prized 'Human of Tomorrow' annual slot so that they can actually live a real human life.  Since the Mischief Makers are not eligible for entry and are banned from the contest, they usually cause trouble on the day of the event and attempt to sabotage it.
