China & the Test of Hearts
Summary: In the near future, children that wish to are given the option of having sibling robot companions as well as robotic friends but China, even though she is an only child and has often felt alone, has never wished to pursue that kind of companionship. However, when China discovers that one of her parents has a terminal heart condition and she stumbles upon an AI companion who has a new enhanced emotional component, she decides that AI might be able to help her family in ways that nature and medicine can’t and so, she agrees to participate and quickly enlists the help of her new robotic sibling companion in an attempt to try save her mother’s life. Throughout their exploration of what might save a human life and how they can save a human heart, the two must learn some of the limits and some of the differences between human beating hearts and functional emotional programs as they try to search for possible solutions and remedies. Due to the complexity of their task China must teach her new robotic friend what being part of a human family really means, what human love really is and how strong human love can really be as they embark upon their life saving quest to enhance and accelerate her new companion's full emotionally enhanced AI capacity which may just provide some forms of robotic human love that might just be more powerful and helpful than China’s own human love and human heart alone.
